Rising Phoenix Archery Adaptive Archery program

Participants must be age 16+

Archery is a sport that is open to everyone; it is inclusive of all ages, genders and abilities. Athletes with physical or cognitive impairments, who may otherwise be dissuaded from participating in sports can participate in archery alongside athletes without any disability. Whether your goal is to just get out and socialize or be active, or to make a U.S. Paralympic or World Championship Team, archery is a sport that lends itself to any need.

Simple adaptations to archery programs can break the stigma associated with disabilities and remove the barriers to conversations and interactions among groups of people who might otherwise be separated. This environment can be an enriching experience for all students of archery.

This archery class is for the student at any level, but we do require a consultation with a coach to be sure that we will have the resources to help you get started before you enroll. Email Coach Loretta at lorgal@comcast.net

Clinics

Rising Phoenix Archery is offering an Adaptive Archery Clinics in conjunction with our community partners for individuals with physical disabilities (i.e., loss of limb or limb deficiency, vision impairment, impaired muscle power, impaired passive range of movement, hypertonia, ataxia). The clinic offers the first step to learning archery and covers the basics of archery, universal range safety rules, equipment identification, and basic techniques.

After attending a clinic, individuals may consider attending the Adaptive 5 week Indoor session.
Our first program cycle for this new offering begins on Feb. 8, 2023. With new programs starting every 5 weeks after.

We are proud to be certified by USA Archery to teach the same National Training System (NTS) used to prepare our Paralympic archers.

5 Week Adaptive Archery Program

If you have never tried archery, one of the coaches will take you each week through our beginners curriculum adapted to meet your individual needs.

Second time students will receive the Intermediate level programming and students who have attended three of more program cycles of Adaptive Archery (AA) will receive the AADP/Club level programming each week.

Students on their 3rd or more program cycle are given a discount on programming. Cost per program cycle is reduced to $90 for the 5 week cycle.

When registering for an Adaptive course, you must save a card on file as these courses are set to a delayed billing. If you are uncomfortable saving a card on file you must come into the range after creating a profile to pay in person. When saving a card on file, your spot is imeadiately reserved, when selecting to pay in person, the system does not reserve your spot until payment is accepted and manually proceed by registration manager. Payment information is not stored on our server or website and is only available to our processor.

Students at the club level (3rd or more sessions) can also participate in either the Adult Archery Development Program (AADP) or Junior Olympic Archery Development (JOAD). With a valid Adult membership  or Youth Membership to US Archery, participants can earn “pins” or ranks to signify their mastery.

The ultimate goal is to reach the Olympian pin level and be enshrined on our wall of fame.

Membership with US Archery enables you access to sanctioned events for both them and the NFAA. This additional membership is optional.

Sessions available:

Tuesday 6:00pm to 7:30pm

Additional course info:

Sessions will focus on safety,  techniques, and drills. Coaches will give archers increasing challenges at greater distances, but each archer will advance at their own pace.

We are proud to be certified by USA Archery to teach the same National Training System (NTS) used to prepare our Olympic archers.

All basic equipment is provided for the students at no extra charge. Depending on impairment, archer may need to purchase items to participate. Our goal is to minimize the barrier to access as best as we possibly can. Call us to discuss individual needs. You may be surprised at how much we can accomplish.

Participants are required to wear closed toes shoes for all sessions. Flip flops and sandals are not permitted to be worn by participants.
